Australia releases mandatory product standards for button batteries

Recently, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission(ACCC) has released four mandatory standards for button/coin batteries. They are:
● Consumer Goods (Products Containing Button/Coin Batteries) Safety Standard 2020;
● Consumer Goods (Products Containing Button/Coin Batteries) Information Standard 2020;
● Consumer Goods (Button/Coin Batteries) Safety Standard 2020;
● Consumer Goods (Button/Coin Batteries) Information Standard 2020.
The mandatory standards will come into force from June 2022 and suppliers that export button/coin batteries and products containing button/coin batteries to Australia will have to comply with the requirements in these standards.The table below summarizes the requirements of these mandatory standards. About the ACCC
The ACCC works with other agencies in Australia to regulate the safety of a wide range of consumer goods. The ACCC also publishes more than 40 mandatory product standards for products such as toys, cribs and bicycles.
